Committees
Budget/Fundraising Committee
Chair – Michael Tyler
Co-Chair – Patrick Joseph
The
Budget/Fundraising Committee is responsible for
soliciting, collecting, and otherwise raising funds to
use toward fulfillment of the purposes and objectives of
Martinet. The Committee also partners with other
organizations, agencies, and/or individuals with
interests similar or related to those of Martinet in an
effort to derive funds to benefit Martinet.
CLE Committee
Chair – Arlene Knighten
The CLE Committee
responsibilities include scheduling CLE programs for
Martinet members. The CLE program includes topics such
as Mediation, Legislative Updates, Successions,
Intellectual Property and Ethics. In addition, this
committee is charged with the task in hosting joint CLE
programs with the National Bar Association, Louisiana
State Bar Association, Baton Rouge Bar Association and
other Louis A. Martinet Chapters throughout the state.
Community Outreach Committee

The Community
Outreach committee is responsible for creating various
opportunities for our membership to give of their
talents to our local community. This committee works
directly with the Leo Butler Center and their community
outreach initiatives.
Educational Outreach Committee
Chair – Danielle Brown
Co-Chair – Daryl Robertson
The Education
Outreach Committee main responsibility is the
collaboration with Southern University Law Center, East
Baton Rouge Parish Schools, and the Marshall Brennan
Project, which focuses on constitutional literacy in the
classroom. The Committee’s goal is to expand Martinet’s
presence in public schools.
Gala Committee
Chair – Eboni Townsend
Co-Chair – LaTonya Ozene
The Gala Committee is
responsible for all aspects of the Louis A. Martinet
Foundation Annual Scholarship Gala, which is held every
spring to award bright and talented students with a
scholarship award. Another focal point at the Gala is
the installation of the newly elected Martinet
officers. The committee strives to provide an
atmosphere for attorneys, judges and law students to be
recognized for their outstanding contributions in law
and service to the Greater Baton Rouge area.
Hospitality
Committee
Chair – LaTonya Ozene
The Hospitality
Committee is responsible for arranging and promoting all
social events of Martinet. The Committee is also
responsible for preparing and conducting hospitality for
visiting dignitaries this includes arrangements for
transportation, lodging, meals and other related
matters.
Judicial Relations/Forum Committee
Chair – Melissa St. Mary
Co-Chair – Angela Leonard
The Judicial Relations
committee is tasked with ensuring and securing the
participation of our area judges in various Martinet
events, ranging from speaking events to social mixers. The
committee is also responsible for maintaining relevant
information to our members concerning judicial
procedures and regulations.
This committee also
works closely with the CLE Committee in scheduling CLEs.
Leadership
Committee
Chair – Alejandro

Dotson, III
The Leadership
Committee is responsible for providing educational
seminars to members who seek future leadership roles in
Martinet. In addition, the Committee works with current
law students attending Southern University Law Center
and Louisiana State University School of Law in order to
develop various networking opportunities. The primary
mission of this Committee is to place "leadership in the
pipeline".
Legislation Committee
Chair – Michael Bell
The Legislation
committee is responsible for updating Martinet members
on legislation that impacts the Baton Rouge community
and profession. This committee serves as a liaison
between the Louis A. Martinet and the Legislative Branch
of our government. In addition, the committee is
charged with developing forums and seminars in order to
educate the Baton Rouge community on various legislative
amendments and acts.
Membership Committee
Chair – Christopher Hebert
Membership Committee is responsible for servicing
Martinet members
by inviting speakers
to discuss various topics with the membership, such as
disability insurance and retirement plans. Another
focus is
securing corporate
partnerships to give discount services and benefits to
our members. As well as strengthening our membership
through an increased relationship with our local law
schools while also focusing on membership retention.
Nominating Committee
Chair – Michael Tyler
The Nominating
Committee is responsible for reviewing Martinet’s
by-laws for the purpose of developing and implementing
processes and procedures that will govern Martinet
elections. The Committee is also responsible for
creating campaign rules that govern elections,
establishing necessary time delays for the election
process, and establishing and implementing a voting
procedure.
Public Relations Committee

Public Relations
Committee is
responsible for
building and
maintaining relationships with members of the media and
drafting articles. The Committee’s primary goal is to
supply information to the media for all events Martinet
participates to ensure that our community, members and
future members know who Martinet is and what Martinet
does.
Technology Committee
Chair – Eboni Townsend
The Technology Committee is
responsible for the creation and maintenance of the
Louis A. Martinet Website and Newsletter. The Martinet
Newsletter is emailed to the membership providing
information on upcoming events, job announcements and
service projects. The Martinet Website is the hub of
information for all Martinet activities and member
information.
