Pro
Bono Program
The Pro Bono Program provides free legal services to the
indigent citizens of the East Baton Rouge Parish
community. It is operated in collaboration with Capital
Area Legal Services Cooperation (CALSC) and the Baton
Rouge Bar Foundation. It is currently funded by CALSC
and a special grant through the 19th Judicial District
Court and the Baton City Court. The Pro Bono Program has
focused its efforts in the Dr. Leo Butler Community
Center. In September 2009, members of the Louis A.
Martinet Legal Foundation began hosting seminars that
targeted senior citizens of South Baton Rouge.
The seminars are conducted on a monthly basis at the
Butler Center. Seminar topics include: Family Law:
The Legal Rights of a Grandparent; Successions:
Why do I Need a Will; Health
Care:
How the New Health Care Plan Affects Me;
and Tax:
My Tax Responsibility as a Senior Citizen.
Latonya Ozene chairs the Pro Bono Committee for the
Martinet Foundation and the Martinet Society.
